I started my journey into the field after volunteering to help my personal horse vet on an emergency call for a friend of mine’s horse. Her horse was choking on her food, I helped her work all night till 1 am removing the blockage. I enjoyed helping keep the horse calm as well as explaining to the owner what happened and that everything would be ok. The horse fully recovered and the next day I applied for the current program I am in now at Penn Foster College.
If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be, and why?
River Otter, otters are extremely hyper and playful, it would be interesting to see them explore the world.
Do you currently have any pets? What type and what are their names?
I live on a farm so I have quite an array of animals:
Two horses Royal an American Paint, Zoe Shetland Pony
Two goats Henry and DC Nigerian Dwarfs
Two ferrets Kit and Cinder both are sable masks
Two indoor cats Sable and Ella
Four indoor dogs Blake Pitbull/Rhodesian ridgeback mix, Jade German Shepard, Maverick German Shepard, Bear Yorkie mix

Barn cats KP, Jerry, Lilo, Miles, Hayzel, Bruno, Mya, we got all of these cats from a trap and release program to help the cat population with housing.
An array of ducks and chickens.
What is your favorite thing about working with animals?
I enjoy working with animals because they teach you new things all the time, animals can’t speak like us humans so it is very interesting to watch them communicate with us. I also enjoy being there to comfort owners by answer questions and calm any nerves they have. Being there to help animals in their time of need to be there to keep them calm and ease any discomfort they have is a big part of why I decided to work with animals.
